Varun Dhawan To Take Break From Acting After Border 2’s Success; Here’s Why

Actor Varun Dhawan is reportedly planning to take a short break from acting following the success of his recent film Border 2, which has been performing strongly at the box office. The war drama, released during the Republic Day weekend in January 2026, has emerged as one of the biggest hits of the year and also the highest-grossing film of Dhawan’s career.

According to reports, the actor wants to step away from films for a brief period after completing his ongoing professional commitments. The decision is believed to stem from the physically and emotionally demanding experience of working on Border 2. Dhawan has previously shared that the film pushed him to his limits and turned into a challenging phase for him personally and professionally.

The actor portrayed the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in the film, a character inspired by a decorated Indian Army officer. During the filming of intense combat sequences, Dhawan reportedly sustained injuries while performing physically demanding scenes alongside real soldiers, highlighting the rigorous nature of the shoot.

Reflecting on the experience earlier, Dhawan had described Border 2 as a project that “really pushed me to my limits,” adding that the journey changed him in many ways. The film’s demanding schedule, injuries during production, and the emotional weight of portraying a real-life war hero are said to be among the reasons he now wants to take some time off before jumping into new projects.

Despite the planned break, Dhawan continues to enjoy the success and appreciation coming his way after the film’s release. The actor had faced trolling and skepticism before the movie hit theatres, but audiences and critics later praised his performance once the film released and performed strongly at the box office.

For now, Dhawan is focusing on celebrating the success of Border 2 and taking a well-deserved pause before deciding on his next acting venture.
